Upper Hunter Shire Council has installed a new temporary commercial kitchen and dining area at the Scone Regional Livestock Selling Centre, which will open today (Monday 19 June 2017).
The old canteen was damaged over Easter when a run-away truck collided with the building causing extensive damage. No one was injured, however an assessment by a structural engineer found the building had to be demolished.
Council has commenced the tender process for the design and construction of a replacement building.
The new multi-purpose building will include a kitchen and dining area, administration offices, accessible toilets, showers, first aid and cleaners rooms.
Mayor Wayne Bedggood said the new building would provide a more attractive and functional welcome to the saleyards with a country style façade including a covered verandah for outdoor dining and a large window with a bench for bidder registration by Associated Agents.
Council is calling for tender submissions for the demolition, design and construction of the new saleyards building that must be submitted by 2.00pm Wednesday 12 July 2017. Tender documents are available at www.tenderlink.com/upperhunter.
