The General Manager of Muswellbrook Shire Council has handed in her resignation.
Fiona Plesman has been under increasing pressure in recent months following a series of stories by the Hunter Valley Newsroom over the council's handling of a controversial development application process.
This included the major privacy breaches with the personal information of Martindale residents posted on council's website followed by a spreadsheet with 680 people's private details sent out as a large group email.
She also misled the community about who was responsible for setting public consultation process time frames then refused to explain why.
Muswellbrook Mayor Steve Reynolds said Ms Plesman is on leave now until she officially finishes in the position next month.
