Commendations have been presented to local firefighters for their actions while dealing with a house fire at Singleton three years ago in which three children died.

Two five-year-old twin girls, Matilda and Scarlett Rinkin, died in hospital while the body of their 11-year-old brother was later found inside the house.

Their mum and eight year old daughter survived after being rescued by neighbours.

Crews from Singleton Station 444 and Branxton Station 237 attended the fire.

Last night Fire and Rescue New South Wales Commissioner Paul Baxter praised the firefighters for their heroic actions in the early hours of that day back in June 2019.

"Not only did you respond quickly and bravely but you recognised the devastating impact that the fire was going to have on the wider Singleton community," he said.
