A major funding commitment for Merriwa residents over the weekend to finally fix the Coulson’s Creek Road between the town and Willow Tree.
The coalition committing almost 50 million dollars to rebuild M-R-3-5-8, as it is also known, a critical livestock freight route.
The road has been closed to all vehicles since January last year after it collapsed following a landslip and inadequate council repairs.
State Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway says the bulk of the money for the project will come from Canberra.

The Upper Hunter Shire Council says it has worked extremely hard to try to make it up to the Merriwa community after the Coulsen's Creek Road "stuff up".
Upper Hunter Shire Mayor Maurice Collision says he doesn't know how much economic loss has been suffered by locals as a result of the major cattle freight route being closed.
The work is not expected to be completed for at least two years.
