49 cases of COVID-19 identified within the Hunter regions

Hunter New England Health have identified 49 new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The new cases take the total number in the current outbreak to 2,729 - there are currently 940 active cases.

No cases were reported across the Upper Hunter in the latest figures.

24 of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital and six are currently in ICU.

28 cases are linked, 16 are unlinked, and five are still under investigation.

32 were infectious in the community and 12 were isolating during their infectious period.

Meanwhile, New South Wales recorded 282 new cases of the virus over the last 24-hours.

- 1 from Cardiff

- 1 from Cardiff South

8 are from Maitland LGA

- 3 from Thornton

- 2 from Rutherford

- 2 from Tenambit

- 1 from Gillieston Heights

8 are from Cessnock LGA

- 5 from Kurri Kurri

- 2 from Cessnock

- 1 from Heddon Greta

6 are from MidCoast LGA

- 3 from Taree

- 1 from Harrington
