Singleton pub fined for breaching Public Health Orders

The licensee of Singleton's Caledonian Hotel has copped a hefty Personal Infringement Notice (PIN) for breaching vaccine requirements.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District and specialist licensing police attended the venue at George Street following reports unvaccinated adults were allowed on the premise.

The 57-year-old licensee and a 54-year-old employee were issued with a $1000 PIN for hosting unvaccinted people in a 'higher risk' setting.

He was also issued another PIN for not taking reasonable steps to ensure the unvaccinated were not on the premise.

The Caledonian Hotel has been vocal on social media discussing their views on the newly announced Public Health Orders.

A post on Facebook described the rules as "an evil and disgusting act being carried out on our fellow citizens" and want to "stand against any form whatsoever of discrimination."

Officers have since spoken with the licensee about reminding him of what obligations they are required to follow under the Public Health Act.

The Caledonian Hotel has since responded to the backlash with a new social media message.

"The Cali would like to thank you all for the amazing support we have received today and everyday.

"We are still here cracking along for all now and always," the post said.
