Hunter New England Health have identified 45 new cases of COVID-19 throughout the district.
It has become the highest recorded number of cases to date since September 18th when 30 were documented.
The newly recorded take the total number in the current outbreak to 521 - with 342 active cases.
20 are from Newcastle LGA - four in Newcastle, three in Wallsend and Birmingham Gardens, two in Newcastle East and one in Mayfield, New Lambton, Merewether, Waratah, Hamilton, Mayfield East, Bar Beach and Wallsend South.
19 are from Lake Macquarie LGA - four in Toronto and Cooranbong, three in Mirrabooka, 2 in Woodrising and one in Mount Hutton, Wangi Wangi, Booragul, Edgeworth, Windale and Blackalls Park.
Three are from Maitland LGA - one in Metford, Ashtonfield and Green Hills.
Two are from Cessnock LGA - one in North Rothbury and Weston.
One is from Port Stephens LGA - located in Tanibla Bay
11 of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital and zero are in ICU.
28 are linked to known infections, 10 are unlinked, and seven are still under investigation.
29 were infectious in the community, 10 were isolating while infectious and six are still under investigation.
There are 804 close contacts in isolation throughout the Hunter.
