Upper Hunter nurses walk off the job for 24 hours

Upper Hunter nurses have walked off the job for 24 hours following a breakdown in pay negotiations.

The frontline health workers will board a bus and head to Sydney to join their colleagues from across the state at a mass protest rally in front of Parliament House.

Nurses are seeking a 15 percent pay rise. The government is only offering an interim three percent while talks continue.

Union delegate Peggy Smith said today’s action is on top of current work to rule bans.

Upper Hunter hospitals will continue to take emergency patients as usual during teh industrial action.
