Upper Hunter nurses receive pay rise

The nurses union is vowing to keep on fighting for a ten percent pay increase despite agreeing to a new deal for less than half of that with the State Government.

Upper Hunter nurses and midwives were among the 58 percent of frontline health workers accepting a four-and-a-half percent pay rise after a long-running dispute with the last two governments.

The union said the increase does not even come close to matching the rate of inflation with nurses struggling with ‘cost of living pressures’ like the rest of the community.
