A Singleton Heights man thought he had trodden on a stick when he was bitten by a snake a week ago.
Stuart Forrest was cleaning up a garden bed in his backyard at lunchtime last Monday when the incident occurred.
The juvenile eastern brown snake bit him just above the ankle on his right leg.

Mr Forrest said he knew straight away he had been bitten by a snake in his backyard, which resulted in a life-and-death emergency.
He was airlifted down to Newcastle in a critical condition after initial treatment at Singleton Hospital.
The dad is back home recovering now but still suffering from the effects of the bite and subsequent treatment.
