Police investigate serious truck crash on New England Highway

Police are investigating a serious crash involving two trucks on the New England Highway near Belford in the Hunter Valley.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound lanes about 3.35pm yesterday, Friday 5 December, following reports of a collision approximately 15 kilometres south of Singleton.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male drivers of the trucks – aged 25 and 71 – at the scene before they were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.

A 76-year-old woman driving a Ford Ranger towing a caravan was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory testing. She was not injured and her vehicle was not directly involved in the crash.

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Singleton Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
