Nurses walk off the job at local hospitals

Nurses have walked off the job this morning at Upper Hunter hospitals for 12 and half hours over a long running pay dispute with successive State Government’s.

The frontline health workers are demanding a 15 percent pay increase which will still result in them earning less than Sydney rail staff.

Many local nurses and midwives will travel down to Newcastle to take part in a Hunter region protest rally.

Life-preserving services will be maintained during the strike.
