Upper Hunter nurses have told the State Government there is no reason why they shouldn’t be implementing safe nurse-to-patient ratios and give them a much-deserved pay rise.

Dozens of off-duty frontline staff gathered in protest outside Muswellbrook and Singleton Hospital yesterday afternoon.

The rally was also told an immediate 15 percent pay rise would still leave Upper Hunter nurses earning over $40,000 less than Sydney rail workers.

Nurses union Muswellbrook Branch Secretary Kathryn Black told the event…even if the pay claim was awarded, it would still leave members so far behind other government workers.
