Four local firefighters are set for the challenge of a lifetime later this month.
The Beat The Burn event involves spending two days walking up to the top of Mount Kosciuszko in the state’s Snowy Mountains to raise money for sick kids. They are helping raise money for the burns unit at Sydney’s Westmead Children’s Hospital.
One of the group from Singleton’s Fire and Rescue Station 444 Linda Bennett said they’ve been training hard to get their bodies ready.

“We’ve been walking and jogging slowly every day. We’ve already had to buy new sneakers,” she said.
