A lawnmowing man has described how he had to surf the ground when an earthquake struck the Upper Hunter last week.
Shane Hanrahan was cutting the grass on Wimera Place in Muswellbrook South when the 4.8 quake struck at 12:01pm.
Shane said he had just hopped off his ride-on to break a tree branch up when the earth moved.
The quake, officially measuring 4.8 on the Richter Scale, was followed by numerous aftershocks and a second quake, a 4.4 on Saturday afternoon at 4:30.
Luckily no major damage or injuries were reported to emergency services.
A Muswellbrook South man said he thought a truck was about to crash into the front of the family home when an earthquake struck on Friday.
Allan Lewis from South Muswellbrook said it was the noise that first alerted him to something happening.
