A State MP has questioned the level of BHP’s commitment to genuinely engage with the local Aboriginal community about the future of Mount Arthur.
Sue Higginson asked company reps several times at a parliamentary inquiry hearing about who specifically they had consulted with about the coal mine’s closure before it had to be taken on notice.
She said the Plains Clan of the Wonaruah People should be one of the company’s key stakeholders in Muswellbrook.
